Okay, so I’ve been wanting to upgrade my volleyball setup for a while. I play a lot, both indoors and outdoors, and I was getting tired of inconsistent surfaces. I finally decided to go all-in and get some of that fancy portable wooden flooring – the kind they use in some tournaments, you know? Cushioned, hard maple… the works.
Getting Started
First thing I did was measure out the space where I usually play. Gotta make sure this thing fits, right? I went online to look at different options, sizes, and prices, and let me tell you, there’s a ton of choices out there.
I chose a area where I want to setup. Then, I picked a size that seemed reasonable – not too huge, not too small. Just enough for some good 3-on-3 action.
The Unboxing
When the flooring finally arrived, it was like Christmas morning! It came in these big, heavy boxes. I enlisted a couple of buddies to help me lug them into the back garden.
We ripped open the boxes, and inside were these beautiful, smooth maple panels. They had this interlocking system on the edges, which looked pretty straightforward.
Putting It Together
We started laying out the panels, following the instructions that came with it. It was surprisingly easy! You just kind of line up the edges and snap them together. It’s like a giant jigsaw puzzle, but way less frustrating. The cushioned backing was already attached, which was a nice bonus.
Here’s how the panels were put together:
- Lay down the first panel in the corner.
- Align the next panel and push down to lock the edge in.
- Repeat, repeat, repeat!
It took us a couple of hours, working at a pretty chill pace, to get the whole floor assembled. We made a few mistakes along the way – had to undo a couple of sections and redo them – but overall, it was smooth sailing.
The Finished Product
Man, once it was all done, it looked amazing. This perfectly smooth, golden maple surface, right there in my garden. We immediately grabbed a volleyball and started peppering. The bounce was perfect – consistent and true. And the cushioning? So much better than playing on concrete or even grass. My knees were thanking me already.
I’ve been using this portable flooring for a few weeks now, and I absolutely love it. It’s made a huge difference in my practice sessions, and it’s even more fun to play on. It’s a bit of an investment, sure, but for a volleyball fanatic like me, it’s totally worth it. Plus, I can take it apart and move it if I need to, which is a cool feature.
If you’re serious about volleyball and you have the space (and the budget), I highly recommend looking into portable wooden flooring. Game changer!
