Indoor basketball court wooden flooring is a dynamic living system that interacts closely with the surrounding indoor microclimate, rather than a static solid paving layer. Its internal wood fibers are constantly exchanging moisture molecules with the air, which forms a natural balance mechanism. When the air humidity rises, the wood will absorb a small amount of water molecules from the air, and the appropriate micro-expansion will make the connection between the boards tighter, while when the air becomes dry, the wood will release part of the stored moisture, and the slight shrinkage will avoid the problem of internal stress concentration. This natural dynamic balance is the core reason why high-quality wooden flooring can maintain a stable state for decades.

The moisture content control of the base material runs through the whole process from raw material processing to on-site laying. Before the wood is processed into finished boards, it will go through multiple stages of constant temperature and humidity curing, so that the internal moisture distribution of the whole board is completely uniform, and there will be no hidden trouble of local stress concentration. This treatment process cannot be completed in a short time. Some high-quality wood materials even need to go through more than one year of natural aging in a simulated use environment, so that all the deformation that may occur in the future is released in advance before leaving the factory.

For venues located in different geographical areas, the floor system will carry out targeted adaptation design. In subtropical areas with long rainy seasons, the bottom of the floor system will add a reinforced moisture-proof structure to prevent the ground moisture from invading the wood from the concrete base for a long time. In the cold northern areas with heating in winter, the surface of the wood will be treated with anti-drying modification to reduce the shrinkage rate in the low-humidity environment after heating, so as to avoid the problem of excessive gaps between the boards in winter.

If the venue manager can master the change rule of the floor’s temperature and humidity adaptation, and adjust the indoor environment parameters regularly according to the seasonal changes, the service life of the floor can even be extended by more than 30%. Many old basketball courts that have been in use for more than 20 years still maintain a very good state, which is not only due to the excellent material itself, but also inseparable from the long-term scientific management that conforms to the natural adaptation law of the wood.
