Okay, so I’ve been wanting to jazz up my living room for a while. It felt…blah. I saw this picture online of these awesome, colorful cushions on a gorgeous maple floor, and I was like, “YES. That’s what I need!” So, I went for it. Here’s how it went down:
Finding the Cushions
First things first, I needed those cushions. I didn’t want just any cushions, I wanted ones that really popped. I spent a good afternoon hitting up some local shops. I dug through bins, I unfurled fabrics, I squished a lot of pillows. Finally, I found them – a mix of bright, patterned ones and some solid-colored ones in deep blues and greens. Perfect!
Prepping the Floor
Now, my floor…it’s maple, but it was looking a little sad. It had some scratches and just looked dull. So, before I could even think about throwing cushions around, I had to give it some love. I started by sweeping the heck out of it. Then I grabbed my mop and some wood floor cleaner and went to town. I mean, I really scrubbed it.
The Fun Part: Arrangement!
Once the floor was dry and gleaming, it was time for the fun stuff. I tossed the cushions onto the floor, kinda randomly at first. Then I stepped back and squinted. Hmm, needed some tweaking.
- I moved the bigger, patterned cushions to the corners, like anchors.
- Then, I layered in the solid-colored ones, kinda nestling them together.
- I even fluffed them up a few times, just to get that perfect “lived-in but stylish” look.
It took a few tries, pushing them this way and that, but eventually, I got it. They looked like they were just dancing on the floor. I even plunked down on them to test it out. Comfy and stylish! My living room has officially been de-blah-ified!
All and all, a job that is done! I think it’s good and pretty. I have the vibe I want, cool!
