Alright, folks, gather ’round! Today, I’m diving into a project that’s been on my to-do list for ages: putting down some new wooden flooring. And let me tell you, it was a bit of a dance, but we got there in the end!

First things first, I cleared out the room. This involved a lot of grunting and groaning as I wrestled with furniture, getting everything out of the way. Think of it as a pre-flooring workout!

Getting Started: The Underlay

Next up, the underlay. I opted for these cushion-y things, supposedly to help with soundproofing and make the floor feel a bit softer underfoot. Unrolling the stuff was easy enough, but cutting it to size? That’s where things got a bit tricky. I used a utility knife, and let’s just say my lines weren’t exactly laser-straight. But hey, it’s under the floor, right? No one’s gonna see it!

I laid out all underlay in right place, and ensure the size is fit.

The Main Event: Laying the Planks

Now for the fun part (or so I thought!). I’d chosen this lovely birch-colored wooden flooring. Opening the boxes,I did that! The planks were all different, with those click-together edges.

  • I started in one corner, snapping the first few planks together. That clicking sound was oddly satisfying!
  • Then, I realized I needed to leave a gap around the edges of the room for expansion. Oops! Rookie mistake. A quick adjustment, and we were back on track.
  • Laying the rest of the planks was a bit like putting together a giant jigsaw puzzle. Click, tap, click, tap – that was the rhythm of the afternoon. My knees definitely felt it after a while!
  • Cutting the planks to fit around doorways and awkward corners? Another challenge. I borrowed a jigsaw from a neighbor, and let’s just say there were a few… creative cuts. But again, nothing a bit of filler can’t fix!
  • I continue to assemble those wooden floor, from left to right, unitl I finished them all.

The Finishing Touches

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, I laid the last plank. Victory! I put all furnitures back, and my new wooden floor looked great!

So, there you have it – my wooden flooring adventure. It wasn’t perfect, there were definitely a few bumps along the way, but I did it! And that’s what counts, right? Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to put my feet up… on my brand new floor, of course!
