Alright, so I’ve been wanting to redo my floors for, like, forever. Seriously, the old carpet was driving me nuts. I finally decided to take the plunge and go with this “cushions dancing oak assembled wooden flooring” I saw. Sounded fancy, right? Well, the “dancing” part almost made me dance right out of the store – it was a bit of a process!

Prepping the Space
First things first, I ripped up that nasty old carpet. Let me tell you, that was a workout! Underneath, I found some pretty uneven subfloor. Oh joy.
So, I spent a good day and a half just leveling everything out. Used some self-leveling compound, which was kind of messy, but it did the trick. Had to let that dry completely, which took, like, another entire day. Patience is not my strong suit.
Getting the Flooring Down
Okay, finally time for the actual flooring. These planks were pre-assembled, which was a lifesaver. Imagine having to piece together a thousand tiny little squares! No thanks.
- I started in one corner, following the instructions on the box (which were surprisingly helpful, for once).
- These planks had this “click-lock” system, so you basically just snapped them together. Sounds easy, right?
- It was mostly easy, except when I got to the edges of the room. Then I had to break out the saw and cut some pieces to fit. My sawing skills are… questionable. Let’s just say there were a few… imperfect cuts.
The “Cushions” Part
Now, the “cushions” part of this flooring is basically a thin layer of padding attached to the bottom of each plank. Supposed to make it softer underfoot, you know? And I gotta say, it does feel pretty nice. Makes walking around barefoot much more enjoyable.
Finishing Touches
After all the planks were down, I installed some baseboards to cover up those… less-than-perfect cuts along the edges. A little bit of caulk, a little bit of paint, and boom! It looked (almost) professional.
Overall, I’m pretty stoked with how it turned out. My living room looks totally different! It was a lot of work, and there were definitely some frustrating moments, but seeing the finished product makes it all worth it. Plus, my feet are much happier now. Win-win!
