Okay, folks, let’s dive into my recent adventure: figuring out the cost of indoor basketball court flooring.

It all started when I decided to transform my old, unused garage into a mini basketball haven for my kids (and, let’s be honest, for me too!). I’ve always loved basketball, and having a dedicated space to shoot hoops, rain or shine, sounded like a dream.

Getting Started: The Research Phase

First things first, I needed to figure out what my options even were. I jumped online and started browsing. I quickly discovered there’s a whole world of choices out there, from classic hardwood to modular tiles and everything in between. My head was spinning!

I started jotting down some notes, creating a messy list of potential flooring types:

  • Hardwood: The classic, professional look. But I worried about the price and the maintenance.
  • Modular Tiles: Seemed super practical, easy to install, and more forgiving on the joints. Plus, lots of color options!
  • Rolled Rubber: mainly for gym, so out of my list.
  • Sports Court Surfaces:These sounded intriguing, designed for performance and durability.

Digging Deeper: The Price Hunt

After getting a handle on the types of flooring, I started looking at actual costs. This is where things got interesting (and a little intimidating). I quickly realized that the price can vary wildly depending on the material, the size of the court, and whether you’re doing a DIY install or hiring someone.

So, I started doing my own price comparisons from several shop, included:

  • Material costs (per square foot, per tile, etc.)
  • Installation costs (if I wasn’t going to do it myself)
  • Underlayment/padding (important for comfort and sound dampening!)
  • Any extra stuff like basketball game line paint!

The Installation Process

At the beginning, I planed to DIY, So I researched a lot of videos from Youtube. It’s seemed not very hard. But I failed when I tried to paint the game line…So, I hired someone do that part of job for me.

Wrapping Up

I chose modular tiles at last, because I love the different color and easy to install. Now, I have my own basketball court! My kids love it. That’s the most important!
