Okay, here’s my attempt at a blog post, following your instructions and example:

So, I’ve been wanting to set up a little volleyball area in my backyard for a while now. Just something casual, you know? But the grass is all uneven, and I didn’t want to dig up the whole yard. I started looking into portable flooring options, and that’s when I stumbled across this whole “cushions” and “pine” thing.

First, I gotta say, I messed around with a bunch of different ideas. I even thought about just throwing down some rugs. Don’t do that. It’s a terrible idea. Anyway, I finally decided to try and build some kind of, like, platform thing. I wanted it to be somewhat soft, because, you know, diving for the ball.

My DIY portable Volleyball floor

I started by getting a bunch of those interlocking foam tiles. The kind kids play on. I figured that would provide some cushioning. I laid those out on the grass where I wanted the court to be. It was, uh, pretty bumpy, but hey, it was a start.

Then came the wood. I went to the home improvement store and picked up some pine boards. I’m no carpenter, so I just got the regular, cheap stuff. I figured, if this whole thing goes sideways, at least I didn’t spend a fortune.

I laid the pine boards over the foam tiles. It was…not pretty. The boards were all different lengths, and nothing was really level. I tried to make it all even, but, yeah, that didn’t really work. I did manage to get them all connected, more or less, with some screws and brackets I had lying around.

  • Foam tiles: Check. (Bumpy, but check.)
  • Pine boards: Check. (Uneven, but check.)
  • Screws and brackets: Check. (Held it together, mostly.)

The “cushions” part, well, that’s the foam tiles. They do provide some give, but it’s not exactly like a professional volleyball court. More like a…slightly bouncy wooden platform. I did play on this with a friend, and it work OK, but,I don’t think anyone will use it for dive.

So, that’s my “cushions Volleyball pine portable wooden flooring” adventure. It’s not perfect, but it’s playable. And it was kind of fun to build, even if it looks like something a five-year-old put together. I might try to improve it later, but for now, it’s good enough for some backyard volleyball.
