Okay, so I’ve been wanting to upgrade the flooring in my makeshift volleyball court for a while now. The old surface was just… sad. Uneven concrete, some cracked tiles, you get the picture. Not exactly ideal for diving for that killer spike, right? I did some digging and stumbled upon this LVL (whatever that is, some strong wood I think) soft maple portable wooden flooring. Sounded fancy and, more importantly, like it wouldn’t kill my knees. So, I decided to go for it.
The Hunt Begins
First, I measured the area. Gotta know how much of this stuff to order, duh. I used string, measure, note and calculator. That was simple enough, even for a math-challenged person like myself. Then came the fun part: finding a supplier. I spent a good few hours scrolling through websites, comparing prices, and generally feeling overwhelmed. There are so many options!
Making it Happen
Finally, I settled on a supplier that seemed legit, and placed the order. The waiting was the hardest part. I was so hyped to get started! When the flooring finally arrived, it was like Christmas morning. Big pallets of wood, all neatly stacked. It looked… intimidating, to be honest. But hey, I’m not one to back down from a challenge.
Installation Fun (and Frustration)
I unpacked everything and laid out the pieces, trying to follow the instructions. Okay, maybe I skimmed the instructions. It seemed pretty straightforward: click the pieces together, like a giant puzzle. Sounds easy, right? Wrong. It took some serious muscle (and a few choice words) to get those things to snap into place. My hands were sore, my back was aching, but slowly, surely, the floor started to take shape.
- Step 1: Clear the area. Sweep, vacuum, the works. No debris allowed!
- Step 2: Lay down a moisture barrier. Gotta protect that precious wood.
- Step 3: Start clicking! This is where the real workout begins.
- Step 4: Use the rubber hammer to make the floor flat.
- Step 4: Admire your handiwork. And maybe take a nap.
The Grand Reveal
After a couple of days of sweat and (maybe a few) tears, it was done! My very own, brand-spanking-new, soft maple volleyball court. And let me tell you, it was glorious. Smooth, springy, and so much easier on the joints. I immediately grabbed my volleyball and started practicing. It felt amazing! The difference was night and day compared to the old concrete.
So, there you have it. My journey from cracked concrete to a beautiful, functional volleyball court. It was a lot of work, but totally worth it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go work on my serve.
