Okay, folks, let’s dive into my little weekend project: putting together a keel volleyball soft maple assembling wooden flooring. Sounds fancy, huh? It’s not as bad as it sounds, trust me.
First things first, I cleared out the space. This was probably the most annoying part, honestly. I had to move all the furniture.
Next, I checked the subfloor, and it seems pretty level, so I was happy, no major adjustments needed. Then came the fun part: the underlayment. It is helpful for sound dampening and helps everything feel a bit more “cushioned”.
Then it’s starting with laying out the first row of planks, along the longest wall, leaving the small expansion gap that’s so crucial.
Once that’s done, used some scrap pieces to tap the planks together, making sure they were nice and snug.
Then continue the work and repeat the same process.
The main process
- Cutting the wood, I borrowed a friend’s miter saw for the end cuts.
- Assembling, The tongue and groove system on these planks made things pretty straightforward. It’s basically like a giant puzzle.
- Installing, row by row, It does take time but is a very fun process.
After I finished the main flooring, I spent some time on the baseboards to cover up the small expansion gap between the floor and the wall, it makes the whole thing look way more professional.
And my new flooring is finally finished, so happy about it!
