Alright folks, today’s project was wild – wanted dance floors I could bust moves on without wrecking my actual floors or landlord’s sanity. Got larch wood boards cause they’re tough as nails but still got that nice woody vibe. Here’s how it went down:

Gathering Gear
First off, raided my garage stash. Dug out:
- Twelve larch planks – measured twice like grandma taught me
- Buncha rubber feet pads for bounce
- Stainless steel corner brackets
- Wood screws shorter than my patience when IKEA instructions suck
Floor Puzzle Time
Laid all planks face-down like puzzle pieces. Screwed brackets into corners real careful – didn’t wanna split the wood. Made SURE bracket arms stuck out sideways like little metal legs. That’s the magic trick right there.
Tried test-fitting two boards – CRUNCH sound made my heart stop. Brackets were biting each other! Realized I put ’em all facing same direction like a dummy. Spent 20 minutes cussing while flipping brackets. Finally clicked when opposing boards had bracket jaws meshing like teeth.
Sticky Situations
Added rubber pads under each bracket foot – slippery dance floors? No thanks. Peeling adhesive backing was like fighting octopus stickers. Half the pads tried escaping under my workbench. Pressed down hard till my thumbs went numb. Worth it for that sweet friction grab.
Showtime Test
Slapped the sections together – smooth CLICK sound! Did my worst robot dance on it. Zero wobbles, boards stayed locked tight! Best part? Yanked one section up instantly when neighbor started banging ceiling. Rubber feet left zero marks on my real floor. Mission freaking accomplished!
Total sweat equity? Four hours plus one emergency coffee run. Still got all fingers attached. 10/10 would build again when moonwalk cravings hit.
