Getting Started

I’ve always wanted a dance space at home but renting sucks because you gotta return it. Saw this removable maple floor kit online and thought why not? Ordered the damn thing without reading instructions first. Typical me.

Unboxing Chaos

When boxes arrived, dumped everything in my garage. Big mistake. Found like 300 pieces of maple planks, plastic connectors, rubber pads. Looked like giant LEGO for grown-ups. Zero clue where to start. Took me two hours just sorting pieces by shape. Pro tip: open one box at a time.

The Assembly Struggle

Started clicking boards together like the video showed. Sounded easy but was hell. Half wouldn’t lock properly no matter how hard I stomped. Got pissed until noticing the tiny arrows carved on edges. Apparently they gotta point the same direction. Flipped half my boards and finally heard that sweet “click” sound.

  • Learned to work from corner to wall
  • Used rubber mallet when fingers went numb
  • Ate three pizzas during 6-hour marathon

Disaster Strikes

Thought I was done until my kid ran across it. Whole middle section popped up like toast! Forgot the border locking strips entirely. Had to dismantle edges while cursing. Nearly broke the plastic connectors prying boards apart. Lesson learned: watch the tutorial before drinking beer.

Final Victory Lap

Next morning with clear head, redid the edges properly. Now it clicks together solid. Tested with actual dance moves – no more flying planks! Best part? When visitors come, I whip out a crowbar and remove sections in 15 minutes. Garage looks normal again. Worth every sore finger.

Still finding wood shavings in my hair though.
