Okay, here’s my blog post about installing that basketball court flooring, written in a casual, personal style:
Alright, so I finally got around to tackling that project I’ve been putting off – installing the keel basketball maple portable wooden flooring in my backyard. I gotta say, it was a bigger job than I initially thought, but man, the end result is sweet!
Getting Started
First things first, I cleared out the area. This was mostly just moving some patio furniture and a grill. I wanted a good, clean space to work with. I got this idea it should take a few hours max, because some guys on the internet said so! I’ve been fooled!
Then came the unboxing. These flooring panels were way heavier than I expected. I’m not exactly a bodybuilder, so I had to take it slow, moving a few panels at a time. It took a solid hour just to get everything unpacked and organized.
The Laying Process
I started laying down the first few panels. The instructions that came with it were kinda vague, mostly just pictures. It took me a bit of trial and error to figure out how the locking mechanism worked. Once I got the hang of it, things started moving a little faster. I slided the one to another and push them until I heard “click”.
- Tip number one: Don’t try to rush it. Seriously, take your time and make sure each panel is properly connected, or you’ll end up with gaps and a wonky-looking court.
I kept going, panel by panel, row by row. My back started to ache about halfway through, but I was in the zone, determined to finish. I put on some music, cracked open a cold drink, and powered through. I spent all the weekend on it, from sun up to sun down!
The Finishing Touches
Once all the panels were down, I installed the edging pieces. These gave it a nice, finished look and helped to keep the panels from shifting around. It’s like the frame of a picture, you know?
The Result
Finally, after all, I stood back and admired my handiwork. It wasn’t perfect, there were some minor imperfections here and there, but overall, I was pretty darn proud of myself. The court looked awesome, all shiny and new, ready for some serious hoops action. My kids instantly grabbed a basketball and started shooting, screaming and giggling, that was priceless!
It was a long day, and my muscles were definitely feeling it, but seeing that finished court made it all worthwhile. Now, who’s up for a game?
