Okay, so I’ve been wanting to have a dedicated space for dance practice at home. My living room floor? Not so great. Carpet is a no-go, and the regular hardwood, well, it’s just not made for that kind of stuff. So, I started looking into proper dance flooring. Turns out, it’s a whole thing! I came across this “batten dancing lvl larch portable wooden flooring” and thought, “Hmm, that sounds promising!”

Getting Started

First, I measured out the space I wanted to use. I cleared out a corner of my spare room – it wasn’t huge, but big enough for some basic moves. Then I orderd these wood.

The Unboxing (and the “Oh Boy” Moment)

The package arrived, and the real fun began. All the wooden pieces were there, all stacked and looking pretty intimidating. I started to pulled them all out, spreading them across the * felt a little overwhelming at first, like a giant jigsaw puzzle.

Figuring Out the Battens

The “batten” part is important – these are the strips of wood that go underneath the main floor and give it that springy, bouncy feel. I laid those out first, making sure they were spaced evenly. It took a bit of fiddling to get them right, but once I had the first few down, it got easier. I just followed the pattern.

Laying the Floor

Next up was the actual floor surface. These pieces were larger, and they fit together using some type of simple system. They are all have serial number. I just aligned the numbers and placed them on the battens.
Seriously, it was easier than I expected. I’m not the handiest person, but I managed to do it all by myself! And I make sure they’re connected well.

The First Dance!

Once it was all down, I couldn’t resist. I put on some music and… wow! What a difference! The floor felt amazing – supportive, springy, and just… right. It’s not super slippery, but it’s smooth enough to turn and move without sticking. My cheap old floor can not do this.

The Portable Part

The best part? It’s portable! If I ever need to move it to a different room, or even take it with me somewhere, I can just disassemble it and pack it up. I did a test run and pulled up a few pieces, and it was pretty straightforward.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I’m super happy with this flooring. It’s transformed my practice space, and it’s actually pretty good-looking, too. It was a bit of work to set up, but totally worth it. If you’re thinking about getting a dance floor for your home, I’d definitely say give this batten system a look. It’s made a huge difference for me!
