Okay, here’s my blog post about installing LVL Basketball pine portable wooden flooring, written from a personal, hands-on perspective:

Alright, folks, so I decided to take on a pretty big project – installing a portable wooden basketball court in my backyard. I went with LVL (that’s Laminated Veneer Lumber) pine, and let me tell you, it was a journey!

Getting Started

First things first, I cleared the area. This wasn’t just picking up a few sticks. I had to level the ground, which involved a lot of shoveling, raking, and tamping. Seriously, my back was feeling it after this step. I wanted a good, solid base, you know?

Laying the Foundation

Once the ground was prepped, I laid down a layer of landscape fabric. The guy at the home improvement store said this would help prevent weeds from growing up through the court. Then, I added a layer of gravel, which I also had to level and compact. More raking, more tamping. It was workout, for sure.

Assembling the Floor

Now for the fun part – the actual flooring! The LVL panels came in these big sections, and they had this tongue-and-groove system. Basically, you slide one panel into the other. Sounds simple, right? Well, it took some finessing. I used a rubber mallet to tap them together, making sure everything was nice and snug. I worked my way across the area, row by row. It’s kind of like putting together a giant puzzle.

  • Check Alignment: Every few rows, I stopped to check if everything was still straight. I used a long level and a measuring tape. You don’t want to get to the end and realize the whole thing is crooked!
  • Secure the Edges: I used some special edge pieces to finish off the perimeter of the court. These gave it a nice, clean look and helped keep everything in place.

The Finishing Touches

Once all the panels were connected, I wanted to seal is all. I did that for protection against rain, since is outdoors.

And that’s it! My very own backyard basketball court. It was a lot of work, but totally worth it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go shoot some hoops!
