Alright, guys, let’s talk about my little project – putting together a keel volleyball hevea assembled wooden floor. Sounds fancy, huh? It’s not as bad as it sounds, I promise!
Getting Started
First things first, I cleared out the space. This was probably the most boring part. I moved all the furniture, swept the old floor, and generally made sure everything was clean and ready to go. No one wants to work in a mess, right?
Laying the Keel
Next up was the keel. Think of it like the skeleton of the floor. I got these long wooden pieces – the keels – and started laying them down according to the plan I’d sketched out. I made sure they were evenly spaced, using a measuring tape like my life depended on it. It’s super important to get this part right, or the whole floor will be wonky.
- Measure, measure, measure! Seriously, can’t stress this enough.
- Double-check the spacing between the keels.
- Make sure the keels are level. I used a spirit level to make absolutely sure.
The Hevea Wood
Now for the pretty part! The hevea wood. These are the actual floorboards. I’d chosen a nice, light color that I thought would brighten up the room. I started placing the boards on top of the keels, fitting them together like a giant jigsaw puzzle. They had this tongue-and-groove system, so they clicked together pretty easily. I did have to use a rubber mallet.
Putting it All Together
This part took the longest. Placing each board, making sure it was snug against the one before, and then…securing. I went with glue.
- The boards clicked into place.
- I could placed each board.
Finishing Touches
Once all the boards were down, I did a final check. I looked for any gaps, anything that looked uneven, anything that just didn’t seem right. I fixed a couple of minor things, and then… I stood back and admired my work. It actually looked like a real, proper floor!
It was hard work, no doubt about it. My back was killing me, my knees were sore, and I was covered in sawdust. But you know what? It was totally worth it. I built that floor, with my own two hands. And that’s a pretty awesome feeling.
