So, I’ve been working on this project, right? It involves a keel, basketball, and some pine timber. Sounds like a weird combo, I know, but trust me, it’s gonna be cool. It all started when I had this crazy idea to make… well, I’m not gonna spoil the surprise just yet. Let’s just say it’s something for my backyard.
First things first, I had to get my hands on the materials. I found a local lumber yard that had some decent pine timber. I’m no expert, but I picked out a few pieces that looked straight and sturdy enough. I mean, I eyeballed it, gave ’em a good knock, you know, the usual. I felt like a real carpenter, even though I was probably doing it all wrong.
Gathering the Supplies
- Pine timber: Got a few long pieces, hoping they’d be enough.
- Old basketball: Dug this one out of the garage. It’s seen better days, but it’ll do.
- Screws and nails: Grabbed a whole bunch of different sizes. Better safe than sorry, right?
Next up, I needed a “keel.” Now, this isn’t a boat keel, obviously. I just needed something to act as a support, something strong and kinda… keel-shaped. The part I will not go to details, for it’s my secret for now.
Then came the basketball. I cleaned it up a bit – it was covered in dust and cobwebs. I had to inflate, measure, think, and measure some more. It was a bit tricky, but I think I had figured out how to attach it to the timber in a way that wouldn’t make the whole thing fall apart.
Putting It All Together
Now for the fun part – actually building this thing! I started by cutting the pine timber to the sizes I needed. I used a handsaw because I don’t have any fancy power tools. Let me tell you, my arms were burning after that! It wasn’t pretty, but the cuts were (mostly) straight.
I started screwing and nailing things together, following the super-detailed plan I had sketched out on a napkin. Okay, it wasn’t super-detailed, it was more like a bunch of scribbles, but it made sense to me!
There were a few moments where I thought I’d messed up completely. Like when I almost nailed my finger to the wood, or when I realized one of the pieces was slightly too short. But hey, I managed to fix it with some extra wood and a whole lot of stubbornness.
The Big Moment
After a few hours of sweating and swearing, it was finally done! It was a big project, took a lot of my time, and a lot of tries. I learned so much. And it only cost me the timber and some nails. I am so happy with the result. I can enjoy the rest of the beautiful weather now!
