Alright, guys, gather ’round! Today, I’m gonna share my little adventure with installing batten basketball hard wooden flooring. It all started with a dream – a dream of having my own little court where I could shoot some hoops whenever I felt like it.

First things first, I cleared out the space. This was probably the most boring part, moving furniture, and all that jazz. But hey, gotta do what you gotta do, right?

Getting Started!

Then came the exciting part: Unboxing those beautiful hardwood panels! Man, they smelled good – like fresh-cut lumber and victory (or maybe that was just me). I laid them out, just to get a feel for how it would all look.

And I use a moisture meter to test and confirm that their is no moisture in the wood.

Installation

Next up, the battens. These are basically the wooden framework that goes underneath the flooring, providing support and giving it that nice, bouncy feel. I measured everything out, like, a million times, because you really don’t wanna mess this part up. I used a level to ensure that everything is very flat.

Then I screwed them into the concrete subfloor, making sure they were nice and secure.I use professional tools to ensure the installation is perfect.

With the battens in place, it was time to start laying down the actual flooring. This was like putting together a giant, wooden jigsaw puzzle. I made sure each panel clicked into place snugly with the next one. There was a bit of tapping involved, using a rubber mallet and a tapping block (gotta protect those edges!).

There were definitely some tricky bits, like cutting around doorways and corners. That’s where my trusty jigsaw came in handy. I took my time, measured twice, cut once – that’s the motto!

Finally, after a few days of sweat and, let’s be honest, a few curse words, it was done! I stood back and admired my handiwork. It looked… amazing! Seriously, like a pro-level court, right there in my own home.

  • Cleared the space.
  • Unboxed and laid out the flooring.
  • Measured and installed the battens.
  • Laid down the hardwood panels, tapping them into place.
  • Cut pieces to fit around tricky areas.
  • Admired the finished product!

The first time I dribbled a basketball on it… pure joy. It felt solid, responsive, just like the real deal. Now, excuse me, I’ve got some shooting practice to do!
