Okay, folks, let’s dive into my little adventure with this LVL basketball beech portable wooden flooring.

It all started when I was looking to resurface the basketball court at my local community * old floor was , well, ancient. Cracked, warped, and generally a hazard. So, I started hunting for options.

The Search Begins

I spent days, I swear, going through websites, reading reviews, and trying to figure out what would work best. We needed something durable, obviously, but also something that wouldn’t bankrupt us. And ideally, something we could potentially move or reinstall if needed. That’s where the “portable” part came in.

Eventually, I stumbled upon this LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber) beech flooring. Beech is known for being super strong and having good shock absorption which seemed really, really important.

Getting My Hands Dirty

Ordering the stuff was pretty straightforward. It came in these big panels. Honestly, they were heavier than I expected!

  • First thing, we cleared out the old court. This was the worst part, demolition is very tiring!
  • Then, we made sure the subfloor (the concrete underneath) was super * took some work, using a self-leveling compound in a few spots.
  • Next, we lay down a moisture barrier.

The Installation

Putting the panels down was like a giant jigsaw puzzle. They had this tongue-and-groove system, so they clicked together. We used a rubber mallet and a tapping block to get them * went surprisingly quickly, once we got the hang of it. We worked in rows, making sure each panel was tight against the next.

Finishing Touches

After all the panels were down, we installed the perimeter edging, It gives it a nice, finished look and protects the edges of the flooring.

Then, a few coats of polyurethane sealant to protect the wood and give it that nice, glossy shine that you see on professional * was another waiting game, letting each coat dry completely.

The final step? Painting the lines! Free throw lines, three-point arc, the whole shebang. I even decided to get a custom logo painted at center court.

The Result? A freakin’ awesome basketball court! Seriously, it looks amazing, and it plays even better. The bounce is consistent, and it feels great underfoot.

Everyone at the community center is thrilled, and it’s been getting a lot of use.I’m pretty proud of how this whole thing turned out, even if my back was killing me for a week afterward!
