Okay, here’s my attempt at a blog post, following all your instructions:
Alright, so today was a bit of a mish-mash project day. The goal? To somehow combine cushions, volleyball stuff, an engineer board, and wooden flooring. Sounds random, I know, but that’s what makes it fun, right?
I started by gathering all the random stuff. I had some old cushions lying around that were destined for the trash. I figured, why not give them a second life? Then there was this beat-up volleyball net I’d salvaged from a neighbor’s yard sale. It was pretty tattered, but the netting itself was still kinda strong in places.
Prepping the Base
The base of this whole operation was this engineer board. It’s basic, but it is solid and sturdy. I placed the engineer board on top of my old wooden flooring.
The Cushion Layer
Next, I took those cushions and started arranging them on top of the board. I didn’t really have a plan, just kind of went with what felt right. Some were thicker, some were flatter, so I tried to distribute them evenly. The goal was to create a somewhat level, somewhat padded surface. It wasn’t pretty, but it was starting to take shape.
Adding the Volleyball Net
This is where the volleyball net came in. I cut out a few sections of the netting that were still in decent condition. I laid these pieces over the cushions, kind of like a weird, patchwork blanket. I used some heavy-duty staples (the kind you use for upholstery, not paper!) to secure the netting to the board around the edges. I figured the netting would help hold the cushions in place, and maybe add a bit of texture.
- Locate Sturdy Board
- Placed cushions on top of engineer board.
- Cut and secure volleyball net.
- Make sure secured and safe to use.
The Final Mess
Honestly, the finished product looked… well, like a pile of cushions and netting on a board. But, it was surprisingly comfortable! I tested it out by flopping down on it a few times. The cushions provided some give, and the netting actually felt kind of cool against my skin. It’s not exactly something I’d put in my living room, but it’s definitely functional. It offers a degree of padding/protection. It has served a purpose, using what I had to hand.
So, there you have it. My weird, improvised cushion-volleyball-engineer board-flooring creation. It’s not going to win any design awards, but it was a fun little project, and it kept some stuff out of the landfill. Maybe I’ll use it as a makeshift crash pad for… I don’t know, practicing my breakdancing moves? Who knows! The possibilities are endless (and probably a little bit dangerous).
