Okay, folks, let’s dive into my little project today. I’ve been messing around with some keel, volleyball, maple, and timber – sounds like a weird combo, right? Well, let me tell you how it all went down.
First, I grabbed that old piece of maple timber I had lying around. It was pretty rough, so I started by giving it a good sanding. I wanted it smooth, you know, like a baby’s bottom. Took a while, lots of elbow grease, but I got there.
Then came the tricky part. I needed to shape the timber into a keel-like form. I’m no carpenter, let me tell you, but I managed to use my saw and chisel to slowly, and I mean slowly, carve out the shape. I probably should have used some proper power tools, but hey, I like doing things the hard way sometimes.
- Sanded the maple timber until smooth.
- Chiseled and sawed to create the keel shape.
- Made plenty of mistakes along the way, ha!
- used hand saw, and other tools
Next up, I wanted to add some “volleyball” elements to it. This is where things got a bit… creative. I decided to inlay some pieces of an old volleyball into the wood. I carefully cut out sections of the timber and glued in the volleyball pieces. It looked… interesting. Let’s just say it was a unique aesthetic choice.
The End Result
After a few more hours of fiddling, sanding some more, and applying a coat of varnish, I was done. Did it look like a professional piece of art? Absolutely not. Did it look like something I made with my own two hands, with a bit of sweat and a lot of cursing? You betcha. The important is I have made it and finished.
It’s rough, it’s imperfect, but it’s mine. And hey, it was a fun little project to kill some time. Maybe I’ll try something a bit less… ambitious next time. Or maybe not. Who knows what crazy idea I’ll come up with next!
