Alright, let’s talk about this little project I tackled – putting together a parquet floor. It sounds fancy, but honestly, it was more like a giant jigsaw puzzle.

Getting Started

First things first, I cleared out the room. Everything had to go. Then I checked the subfloor. Made sure it was level and clean because any little bumps would mess things up later. I mean, I did a good sweeping.

The Underlayment

Then came this underlayment stuff. The instructions said it was to cushion the floor. I rolled it out, and it looks pretty thin, and I taped the seams together. It felt a bit like I was wrapping a giant present, but the present was the floor itself.

Laying the Parquet

Now for the fun part! Or at least, it started fun. I opened the first box of these wooden parquet tiles. They had this cool geometric pattern. I picked a corner of the room to start in and just… started clicking them together.

The first few rows were easy. Click, click, click. It felt like I was some kind of flooring wizard. But then, things started getting tricky. I measured the area where the tiles need to be installed, and I did lots of the cutting to fit around the door frame and a weird little nook in the wall.

  • I spent a lot of time on my knees.
  • I got pretty good at using the saw after messing up a few tiles.
  • I learned that “measure twice, cut once” is very, very true.

Almost Done…

After a couple days, it was mostly done. The majority part was pretty enjoyable. But It felt amazing to look at the wood patterned floor across the room. It’s a massive upgrade.

The Finishing Touches

Finally, I put the baseboards. They covered up the gap.

So, yeah, that’s how I installed my “cushions dancing parquet assembled wooden flooring”. It was a lot of work, but seeing the finished floor, it was totally worth it.
