Okay, so I’ve been wanting to redo the flooring in my little workout area for, like, forever. It was just plain old concrete, and super cold in the winter. I saw this “batten volleyball pine assembled wooden flooring” thing online and thought, “Why not? Let’s give it a shot!”

Getting Started

First things first, I measured the room. Twice, actually, because I’m notorious for messing that up. Then I ordered the flooring. It came in these pre-assembled panels, which I figured would make things easier.

Prepping the Space

  • I cleaned the concrete floor really well. Vacuumed it, mopped it, the whole deal. I wanted to make sure there was nothing that would mess with the new floor.
  • I also put down a vapor barrier. I wasn’t sure I really it, but it seemed like a good idea to protect against any moisture.

Laying Down the Floor

This is where the “assembled” part came in handy. These panels just clicked together. Started in one corner and just worked my way across the room. It was surprisingly easy, actually. I was expecting way more of a struggle.

Some pannels are a bit out of shape, so I used a rubber mallet to help me put two pannels together.

The Finishing Touches

Once the whole floor was down, I installed some baseboards around the edges. Just to make it look all nice and finished. I’m not gonna lie, cutting those angles was a bit of a pain, but I got it done.

The Final Result!

Honestly, I’m super happy with how it turned out. It looks way better than the plain concrete, and it’s so much warmer. Plus, I did it all myself! Feeling pretty proud of that. It wasn’t the easiest project I’ve ever done, but definitely not the hardest either. If you’re thinking about doing something similar, I’d say go for it!
