Okay, so picture this: I had this idea, right? Cushions, dancing, all set against this gorgeous larch timber backdrop. Sounds kinda dreamy, doesn’t it? Well, getting there was a bit of a journey, let me tell you.

The Starting Point

First, I gathered my materials. I’d scored some beautiful, light-colored larch timber planks. They had this amazing grain, and I knew they’d be perfect. I also picked up a bunch of cushions – different sizes, textures, the works. Think fluffy, think velvet, think everything cozy.

The Build

Next up, prepping the timber. I measured and cut the planks to the size I wanted for my backdrop. It wasn’t huge, more like a feature wall section. Then came the sanding – oh, the sanding! I spent a good few hours getting those planks smooth as a baby’s bottom. No splinters here, thank you very much.

After that, I applied a clear sealant. I wanted to protect the wood but still show off that natural beauty. I let that dry overnight, ’cause patience is a virtue, or something like that.

The Fun Part

With the backdrop ready, it was time for the cushions! I started by laying them out on the floor, arranging and rearranging until I had a pattern I liked. It was all about that playful, “dancing” vibe, so I went for an asymmetrical look, with some cushions overlapping and others spaced out.

I did it!
