Okay, so I’ve been wanting to upgrade my home gym for a while, and I finally decided to tackle the flooring. I wanted something that looked good, felt good underfoot, and could handle some serious workouts, including volleyball practice. After doing some digging, I landed on the idea of a “cushions volleyball lvl larch assembled wooden flooring”. Sounds fancy, right? It’s basically a pre-assembled wooden floor with a cushioned underlayment, made from larch wood. Larch is super durable, which is a must.
The Prep Work
First things first, I cleared out the entire room. This was a workout in itself! Everything out – weights, mats, the old, sad-looking carpet… everything. Then, I gave the concrete subfloor a good sweeping and vacuuming. You want that surface as clean as possible so the new floor lays flat and doesn’t have any weird bumps.
Laying Down the Underlayment
The “cushions” part of this whole thing is super important. I rolled out this special underlayment – it’s like a thick, rubbery foam. I made sure it covered the entire floor, edge to edge. I used some heavy-duty tape to secure the seams so nothing would shift around later.
Assembling the Wooden Flooring
Now for the main event! The larch flooring came in these pre-assembled panels. Think of them like giant puzzle pieces. I started in one corner and carefully laid down the first panel. It clicked into place with the underlayment, which was pretty satisfying. I continued this process, panel by panel, making my way across the room.
- Tip 1: I highly recommend having a rubber mallet on hand. Sometimes the panels need a little gentle persuasion to click together properly.
- Tip 2: Stagger the seams! Just like laying bricks, you don’t want all the seams to line up. It looks better and makes the floor stronger.
The Finishing Touches
Once all the panels were down, I installed some baseboards around the edges of the room. This hid the small gap between the flooring and the wall, and just gave it a cleaner, more finished look. It made things pretty.
The Result?
Honestly, it looks amazing! The larch wood has this beautiful, natural grain, and the cushioned underlayment makes it so much more comfortable to stand and jump on. My volleyball drills feel way better now, and my knees are thanking me. It’s a huge upgrade from the old carpet, and it totally transforms the feel of the whole room. I feel great. Mission accomplished!
