Okay, here’s my blog post about setting up a volleyball court with cushions and rubber tree wooden flooring:

Alright, folks, let me tell you about this little project I tackled recently. I’ve always wanted a decent space to play volleyball, so, I decided to revamp a part of my backyard. I’ve got a decent stretch of land.

Planning and Prepping

First things first, I measured the area I was working with. You know, gotta make sure everything fits right. I wanted a standard-sized court, even if it’s just for casual games. So I grabbed my measuring tape and got to work.

Next up, I cleared the area. This was the boring part. Weeds, rocks, random junk… you name it, I hauled it out of there. I wanted a nice, clean slate to work with.

The Cushions

Now, for the fun stuff! I decided to add some cushions. Because, let’s face it, diving for a volleyball on hard ground is no fun. So I ordered a bunch of large, thick cushions, outdoor ones. I laid down some thick plastic sheeting first, just to keep the moisture out. Then, I started arranging the cushions. Making it all level and even took a bit of work, jumping around on them to get them settled.

  • Ordered the cushions from a local store.
  • Made sure they were water-resistant.
  • Arranged it carefully.

Rubber Tree Wooden Flooring

I wanted to add a more visually appealing and practical surface to the court. That’s where the rubber tree wooden flooring comes in. This stuff is pretty cool – it’s durable, looks great, and it’s made from, you guessed it, rubber trees!

I laid down a base layer of gravel, packing it down real good to make sure it was solid. Then, I started laying out the wooden flooring panels. They clicked together, which was super satisfying. Like giant puzzle pieces. It did help that I have done these kind of work in the past.

I worked my way across the cushioned area, making sure each panel was snug against the next. I had to cut a few pieces to fit around the edges, using a simple hand saw. Nothing too fancy.

Finishing Touches

Once the flooring was down, I secured the edges with some landscape edging. This kept everything in place and gave it a nice, clean look.

Finally, I set up the net. I’d already put in the poles earlier, so it was just a matter of stringing up the net and getting the tension right.

And there you have it! My very own backyard volleyball court. It’s not professional-grade, but it’s perfect for some casual games and a whole lot of fun. The cushions make diving a lot less painful, and the rubber tree wooden flooring gives it a great look and feel. My kids are super happy, that’s all what I need. I’m pretty stoked with how it turned out!
