Okay, here’s my blog post about assembling a wooden volleyball floor, written in a casual, personal style:
Alright, so the other day I took on this project – putting together a wooden volleyball floor. It was one of those “keel volleyball plywood assembling” things, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a process. But a fun one! Kind like a big puzzle.

Gearing Up
First thing, I made sure I have space. I mean, this flooring is not small. Also I got all my tools ready. Nothing fancy, I did need a good drill, a level (super important!), and, of course, my trusty measuring tape. Safety glasses too – wouldn’t want any splinters flying into eyes.
The Keel Deal
The whole thing started with the keel. That’s the base, and it’s kinda like the skeleton of the floor. I laid out the keel pieces, they looked like long wooden beams, making sure to follow that instructions that came with. Had to double-check those measurements – no room for error here!
Plywood Power
Once the keel was down and solid (I spent a good amount of time making sure it was level, seriously, can’t stress that enough), it was time for the plywood. Now, these plywood sheets were large. I needed my neighbor to give me hand with a few of them! We carefully placed them on top of the keel, making sure the edges lined up perfectly.
- I used wood screws to attach plywood to the keel.
- I pre-drill all of hole for screw.
Putting It All Together
This part was pretty repetitive. Lay down a plywood sheet, screw it in, move on to the next one. Sounds simple, but it does take some time and patience. I made sure to stagger the joints – you know, like bricklaying – so the floor would be stronger.
Finishing Touches
After all the plywood was down, I felt a huge sense of accomplishment! But it wasn’t quite done. I went around and checked for any loose screws or uneven spots. Filled in the holes for * looked good!
It took a whole weekend, but I built myself a volleyball court floor! It’s not perfect, and there are a few spots that took much work, but that’s part of the fun, right? I am ready for some volleyball!
