Okay, here’s my blog post about installing that keel volleyball hard maple assembled wooden flooring, written in the style you requested:

Alright, so, I decided to put in this new floor in my home gym. It’s that “keel” type, made for volleyball, and it’s hard maple. The whole thing comes in pieces that you put together. I figured, “How hard could it be?” Let me tell you, it was a process.

Getting Started

First, I cleared out the entire room. Everything. Weights, mats, the whole shebang. Then, I gave the old concrete floor a good sweeping and vacuuming. I even mopped it, just to be sure. You don’t want any little bits of anything messing with your new floor.

The Underlayment

Next up was the underlayment. I rolled that stuff out. It is this foamy, plastic-y *’s supposed to help with sound and give the floor a little bounce.I cut it to size, using the utility knife.

Laying the Keel

Now for the keel. This is the framework that the floorboards sit on. Mine came in these long strips, and I had to lay them out according to the plan that came with the kit. Spacing is key here, folks. I measured everything like ten times, just to make sure I was getting it right.

I used a rubber mallet for assembling keel.

Putting Down the Floorboards

This is where it got interesting. The maple boards are beautiful, but they’re also tongue-and-groove. So, you have to fit them together just right. I started in one corner and started working my way across the room. I used my rubber mallet and a tapping block, The tapping block is to protect the edges of the boards. I gently tap each one into place.

It’s slow going. You can’t rush it, or you’ll end up with gaps or, even worse, damage a board. And believe me, those boards aren’t cheap! So, I took my time, made sure everything was lined up, and tapped, tapped, tapped away.

The Final Touches

Once all the boards were down, I installed the baseboards around the edges of the room. That covers up the expansion gap you need to leave (wood expands and contracts, you know). Then, I gave the whole floor a good cleaning with a special wood floor cleaner.I made sure to follow the instructions on the bottle.

The Result

  • It took a while, maybe a few days of on-and-off work, to get done with it.
  • It looks fantastic!
  • It feels amazing to walk on.

It’s solid, springy, and just perfect for my home gym. Was it a pain to install? Yeah, a little. Would I do it again? Absolutely.
