Okay, so yesterday I decided to try something new with my volleyball training. I’ve been practicing my dives, but my apartment has hardwood floors, and, well, it hurts. I don’t have a dedicated training space, just my living room, so I had to get creative.

First, I gathered all the cushions I could find. I’m talking sofa cushions, throw pillows, even a couple of bed pillows. Anything soft and squishy was fair game. My living room looked like a pillow fort exploded.

  • Sofa cushions (the big ones)
  • Throw pillows (various sizes)
  • Bed pillows (the flatter, the better)

Next, I arranged the cushions on the floor. I created a sort of runway, about six feet long, where I planned to practice my dives. I made sure to overlap the cushions a bit, so there weren’t any gaps where I could smack my knee on the wood.

I started with some simple forward dives, just getting a feel for the cushioning. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a huge improvement over the bare floor. I could actually commit to the dive without worrying about bruising my hip.

My Cushion Setup Process:

After I felt the simple, I tried some side * were a bit trickier, since I needed to make sure the cushions covered enough area to catch me at different angles.I do many times and adjust my “cushions diving runway”.

I spent about an hour practicing, just diving and rolling around on my cushion pile. I definitely felt it in my core and legs, so it was still a good workout. Plus, it was kind of fun, like being a kid again.

Finally, finished and my body is fine!.I stacked up all the cushions again, and my living room was back to normal. All in all, it was a successful experiment. My wooden floor is much less intimidating now, thanks to a bunch of cushions. Definitely something I’ll do again!
