Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get some decent volleyball net supports for a while. You know, something sturdy that won’t wobble around every time the ball hits the net. I did some digging and decided to go with these batten volleyball beech timber supports. Here’s how the whole thing went down:
Getting Started
First things first, I needed to find the wood. I looked at a few different kinds, but ended up deciding the best support effect is this beech. I went to my local lumber place. I’m no carpenter, I’m a blogger so I kinda just walked around until I found something that looked about right.
The Cutting
Next up was cutting the timber to size. Luckily, I have a friend who’s pretty handy, and he offered to help me out.
The process is quite simple, I just need to tell him the use of the wood and the approximate length, and he will use tools to saw it off for me.
Shaping and Smoothing
After cutting, the edges were kinda rough. My friend helped me, he grabbed some sandpaper and we started smoothing everything out. We started with a coarser grit to get rid of the bigger splinters and then moved to a finer grit to make it nice and smooth. I didn’t want anyone getting a splinter when setting up the net!
Putting it All Together
With all the pieces cut and sanded, it was time to put it all together. The installation is very simple, you only need to put the prepared wood vertically in the reserved place on the volleyball court.
Because the wood is relatively thick, after the wood is placed vertically in place, it will be very stable, and there is no need to worry about its support.
Honestly, it turned out way better than I expected! No more shaky net, and the whole setup looks way more professional. Plus, I got to spend an afternoon hanging out with my buddy. Win-win!
