Okay, here’s my blog post about setting up that portable wooden dance floor:
So, I’ve been wanting a dedicated space for practicing dance at home, but I didn’t want to commit to a permanent installation. I move a few, you know? After some digging, I found these “batten dancing parquet portable wooden flooring” tiles. Sounded fancy, and more importantly, portable. Here’s how it went down.
The Unboxing
First, I ordered the tiles. Make sure measure my available space many time, you know? It’s very important. When they arrived, it was a bunch of square wooden panels. They felt pretty solid, which was a good sign. Each tile had these interlocking… things… on the edges. I think the interlocking is easy to understand.
Putting it Together
I started by laying down a plastic sheet. I figured this would protect my existing floor and maybe add a bit of a moisture barrier. Probably overkill, but better safe than sorry, right?
Then came the fun part – actually, it wasn’t that bad. I began connecting the tiles. It was like a giant jigsaw puzzle, but way easier. The interlocking edges just snapped together with a satisfying click. No tools needed, which was a HUGE plus for me. I am not good at tool.
- Lay down the plastic sheet first. Protect! Protect!
- Connect one coner.
- Snap them together. You will hear sound Click
- No tools needed.
The Dance Test
Once I had a decent-sized area assembled, I had to test it out, obviously. I put on some music and did some basic steps. The floor felt surprisingly good! It had a bit of give, which is important for dance – you don’t want it to be rock hard. It felt way better than my regular floor, that’s for sure. And after dancing, my knees are good.
The “Portable” Part
The real test of portability came when I decided to move the floor to a different room. I just unsnapped the tiles – which was just as easy as snapping them together – stacked them up, and carried them to the new spot. Took me, like, five minutes. Then I quickly reassembled the dance floor. Super easy to set everything up again.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I’m pretty stoked about this portable dance floor. It’s easy to put together, feels good to dance on, and actually is portable. If you’re looking for a home dance solution that won’t break the bank (or your back), I’d definitely say give these batten parquet things a look. It’s really easy to install.
