Okay, here’s my blog post about installing that basketball court flooring, written in the style you requested:

Alright, so I decided to get this portable wooden basketball flooring, the batten kind made of pine. I’ve always wanted a little court at home, you know? So, I finally took the plunge. Let me tell you, it was quite the project, but totally worth it in the end.

Getting Started

First, I cleared out the space. This was a big deal because I have a lot of junk. I mean, A LOT. I’m kind of a hoarder, It take me about almost 1 day, But, I got it done, sweeping and making sure the concrete subfloor was pretty level and clean.

Laying Down the Battens

Next up, the battens. These are basically the wooden framework that goes underneath the actual floorboards. I laid them out, making sure they were spaced evenly. I had to do some measuring and some thinking. It wasn’t rocket science, but you gotta pay attention, that’s all I can say.

  • Measured the area several times. You know the saying, “measure twice, cut once?” Well, I measured like five times.
  • Placed the battens perpendicular to how I wanted the floorboards to run.
  • Used some shims here and there to get everything nice and level. My floor isn’t perfectly flat, so this was important.

Putting Down the Floorboards

Then came the fun part – installing the actual pine floorboards. These things were tongue and groove, so they fit together pretty snugly. I started at one end, tapping them in place with a rubber mallet. Gotta be gentle, so you won’t do any damage to the wood.

I worked my way across the space, row by row. It was kind of like putting together a giant puzzle. It took some time, and my knees were definitely feeling it, but I kept at it. I made sure to stagger the joints, you know, so it looks like a real basketball court and not some weird, amateur job.

The Finishing Touches

Once all the floorboards were down, I added some trim around the edges to give it a finished look. I just nailed those pieces in. Nothing fancy, but it made a big difference.

Finally, I stood back and admired my handiwork. It looked amazing! A real, honest-to-goodness basketball court, right there in my own space. It wasn’t perfect, but it was mine, and I built it. Now, who’s up for a game?
