Okay, here’s my blog post about installing that cushion volleyball parquet assembled wooden flooring, written in a casual, personal style, and following all your rules:
Alright, so the other day I finally got around to tackling that flooring project. You know, the one I’d been putting off for like, ever? It was time to get that cushion volleyball parquet assembled wooden flooring down in the basement rec room.
Getting Started
First things first, I had to clear out the whole space. That meant moving the ping pong table, the old sofa, a bunch of boxes filled with who-knows-what… basically, a total pain. It always amazes that how much junk we accumulate!
Then grabbed my broom and swept the concrete subfloor like five times. I get pretty obsessive about that it needs to be super clean, so I pulled out the shop vac and went over every inch. No dust bunnies allowed!
Laying Down the Cushions
Unpacked those cushion things. They came in these big rolls, so I just rolled ’em out across the * peasy,I trimmed the edges with a utility knife to make them fit nice and snug against the walls.I used some duct tape. Seemed to do the trick!
The Wooden Flooring Puzzle
Next up: the actual wooden * were those pre-assembled parquet squares, which I thought would be simple. The first few went down okay, just clicking them together like a giant puzzle.
- Used a rubber mallet. Gently!
- Snap the sides together.
- Check that it is level.
I ran into a snag near the doorway, had to cut a few pieces to fit around the frame. I grabbed my old jigsaw . Got the job done, even if it wasn’t the prettiest cut.
Finishing Touches (and a Few Oopsies)
Once all the parquet squares were down, the whole floor looked… well, it looked like a floor! It feels pretty good underfoot, nice and springy thanks to those cushions.
I’m pretty stoked with how it turned out. It’s not perfect. But hey, I did it myself, saved a ton of money, and now I have a way better space for… well, whatever we decide to do down there! Volleyball, anyone?
